Heinz introduced the ketchup packet in 1968 and it went unchanged for over 40 years. Today Heinz produces 2 billion of those packets a year...but all that is about to change. Heinz is changing the packaging on those familiar packets. Heinz has plans to make them easier for dipping and easier to open and squeeze. Most importantly though, the packets will be bigger; one of the new ketchup packets will be equivalent to three of the ghetto old ones.
The design appears to be a hybrid of the Smucker's jam single servings and the Clif Bar energy shots. Either way, here's to another 40 years of ketchup dominance for Heinz.
